Eamon Sullivan is recognized as one of Australia’s most exciting stars of the pool.
The one-time World Record holder in both the 50m and 100m freestyle, Eamon is hot property and hungry to reclaim his status as the undisputed fastest man in the pool in the lead up to the 2012 London Olympics.
After overcoming hip surgery at the start of 2010, Eamon demonstrated a strong return to form at the Commonwealth Games winning Gold in the 4x100m Freestyle and 4x 100m Medley relays and a Bronze in the 100m Freestyle.
Eamon made his Australian Team debut at the 2004 Athens Olympics as a member of the 4 x 100m Freestyle relay. From a relay swimmer to the leading man, Eamon swam his way to the top of Australian sprinting before conquering the world, and becoming World Record holder in the 50m and 100m Freestyle in early 2008.
At his second Olympics, Eamon broke the 100m World Record twice. On the opening day in Beijing, Eamon lowered the mark as the lead-off swimmer in the Men’s 4 x 100 metre relay,final. Australia claimed silver and Sullivan claimed the distinction of being the only man to beat Michael Phelps, who led off the US team . By Games end, Phelps was the most successful Olympian of all-time, making Sullivan’s swim all the more meritorious.
Later in the Games, Eamon would break the World Record in the 100 metre Semi Final, eventually claiming a second Silver in the final when touched out by Frenchman Alain Bernard by less than half a second. In all, Eamon came away with two Silver and one Bronze medal in Beijing, the best performance by a male athlete on the Australian swim team,
Out of the pool, 24 year-old Eamon has become one of Australia’s most recognizable faces.
Post-Beijing, Eamon has been able to bring together two of his keen interests in cooking and the media as a contestant on Network Ten’s Celebrity Masterchef. The Perth native has proved to be a hit in the kitchen, impressing the judges to win the competition and be crowed Australia’s first Celebrity Masterchef.
In 2011 Eamon was named ‘CLEO’ bachelor of the year.
At the recent 2011 World Championships in Shanghai Eamon was back in the pool and anchored the successful 4x100m freestyle relay gold medal team.
2011 has also been significant in that Eamon released his first cook book, ‘Eamon’s Kitchen’, and opened his first café in Perth, “Louis Baxter” focusing on good food and good coffee.
Eamon now has his sights firmly set on adding to his Olympic medal tally at the 2012 Olympics in London.
Throughout his journey, Eamon has been and will continue to be supported by a great team of corporate partners including Uncle Toby’s, Davenport, Speedo, CSR, Proctor & Gamble and the Australian Macadamia Industry. It is this team who will help Eamon reach his goal of gold in London.
