At just 21 years of age and 203cm (6ft8) Liz is developing a reputation around world basketball that has people buzzing. Her debut World Championship in 2010 was a highlight for the Opals. Her dominance of seasoned centre players and maturity for a player resulted in the Tulsa Shock picking her #2 in the 2011 WNBA Draft. The highest Australian drafted since Lauren Jackson.
Add to that she became the first female to dunk at the Olympic Games while helping the Opals to the Bronze medal and she certainly has the world literally at her feet.
Liz was born in England to an Australian mother and Nigerian father. Having spent the majority of her life in Australia Liz’s career has included a stint at the Australian Institute of Sport and a WNBL title with the Bulleen Boomers under the tutelage of international coach Tom Maher.
Opal’s coach Carrie Graf puts it best saying “We’re blessed with superstardom in the Opals with the likes of Jackson and Taylor but on the back of that you look at Cambage and say, ‘wow’.
Having recently signed her first China contract with Zhejiang Chouzhou, Liz’s experience in world competitions is growing fast.
